An important place in the activities of the International Institute is occupied by educational work — especially participation of students in the work of student self-government bodies. International students actively participate in internal and intercollegiate sports competitions and have their own football team. Development of international students’ creative potential is a priority area of educational work, creative students are regular participants in student festivals, national events and holiday celebrations.
Students are trained at departments located in modern academic buildings, University’s own Clinics and at 30 large medical organizations in Samara and the Samara region. One of the important factors for thorough medical training is the University’s close relationship with practical healthcare. The entire learning process takes place in classrooms equipped for practical classes. Classrooms and lecture halls have the required equipment, such as interactive whiteboards, screens, projectors, computers. There are classrooms with equipment for honing practical skills, which allow students to gain not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience. The course of anatomy and pathology is conducted with the use of modern «Pirogov Table» anatomical simulator. This interactive anatomical table was developed at the SamSMU. It presents realistic full-size 3D models of the male and female bodies with anatomically correct shape and correct 3D syntopy of internal organs. The content is available in 3 languages: Russian, English and Latin. The use of simulation training makes the process of studying anatomy more interesting for students and more effective.
Currently the University has a large, modern and well-developed infrastructure. The Samara State Medical University has 6 student dormitories. Dormitories have been allocated for international students at 12 Kievskaya St. and 16 Gagarin St. There is a well-developed transportation hub around the dormitory area, which allows students to easily get to the right places. The procedure for obtaining rooms at dormitories is regulated by the «Regulations on the student dormitory of the SamSMU».
